BRICK HOUSE

Herefordshire
Country House

Beautifully positioned on a working farm, this red brick farmhouse is the perfect balance between characterful and contemporary living.

We opted for a fresh colour palette and were mindful to select a range of hardwearing materials such as heavy linen and stone flooring throughout the home. The property was gutted and we sensitively reconfigured the space into a six-bed family home. We installed a new open-plan kitchen which is a central feature of the property, and selected a colour scheme inspired by shades which can be found in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside that sits in the property’s landscape.

Testimonial

HL Interiors’ created two beautiful schemes for our Herefordshire home, so when it came to starting a complete renovation of Brick House Farm, we knew from the outset that we needed Hannah’s services.

Because we involved HL Interiors from the early design stages, it made the entire process run more smoothly as we had a clear plan of what we were creating, which in turn led the building team who therefore knew exactly what they needed to construct in order to achieve the finishes we required; we knew where the wiring was to run, exactly where we needed the perfect side lamp, where the plumbing needed to be placed for the bathroom layouts, where we needed more structural support behind walls to hold shelves, the old floor boards that were repurposed into kitchen shelves etc etc… we would never have had the forethought to plan this ourselves and it removed a great deal of stress through the construction process.

Hannah knew where it was important to spend more money to achieve a premium finish, and where we could economise without having a detrimental effect. There were statement pieces that we never would have considered, the freestanding bath in the master bedroom being a prime example. Hannah had such a clear view of what she wanted to achieve, yet at the same time remained flexible and came up with constructive work rounds when the unexpected turned up. Hannah’s contacts meant that we could use local crafts people wherever possible, from upholsters to leather workers - it’s all these little touches that give the house character, soul and make it a happy and peaceful place to live.

HL Interior’s vision shines clearly through the whole house. This exhausted old farmhouse has not only been given a new lease of life, it has been allowed to reveal the beauty of its structure in a way that compliments its heritage and rural location. And having recently lived at Brick House Farm for a few months, we can categorically say that the farmhouse works just perfectly from a practical point of view. It’s a real skill to create a space which not only looks beautiful through a lens, but continues to do so with a family living in it, purely because it’s design has been carefully considered. I didn’t know if I could happily live in a more minimalist way, but it was a sheer delight and so easy to maintain along the way. Even with a big family Christmas and too many muddy dogs!

Hannah is a joy to work with and I don’t know what we’d do without her! We couldn’t recommend HL Interiors highly enough.
